Built Newton Heath 1934. Regd 26.6.34 to Air Service Training Ltd., Hamble. CofA No 4440 issued 14.9.34. Cld 31.12.38 census. Imp 2.9.42 in dismantled state and rebuilt by 74(S) Wing at Duxford with serial HM580. Delivered to 1448 Flight at Halton 9.42 and absorbed into 529 Sqdn there 15.6.43. SOC 18.10.43 but rebuilt by Cunliffe-Owen and re-delivered to 529 Sqdn 24.1.44. To 5 MU Kemble 28.11.45 for disposal. Sold to Cierva Autogiro Co Ltd 23.5.46 and restored as G-AIXE to them 11.46. During CofA renewal overhaul the true identity was discovered and it was restored as G-ACUU 3.12.46. [Marks G-AIXE re-issued to Avro 19 c/n 1376 4.12.46] CofA No 11507 renewed 4.7.47. Re-regd 29.4.50 to G.S.Baker, Elmdon. Named "Billy Boy". CofA expired 24.4.52. CofA renewed 1.5.59 and flown by H.J.Barnes, a rotary enthusiast at Elmdon early 1959 (having imported a Bensen Gyroglider housed at Tividale, Staffordshire). WFU on CofA expiry 30.4.60 and loaned to Skyfame Museum at Staverton. Moved with Skyfame Collection to Duxford when the Collection was placed in the long-term care of the IWM in early 1978 after eviction from Staverton. Exhibited in Service marks as HM580.
