DHC.2 Beaver AL.1 c/n 1442 ex G-BUCJ, XP772

Originally built for Army Air Corps with serial XP772 and f/f 11.1.61 and delivered 13.2.61. During its Army career as XP772 it took part in Exercise Mirza in Southern Sudan during 1974. It was used, inter alia, for ferrying supplies to 32 Field Sqdn Royal Engineers during their 12 week support of the Sudanese Engineer Corps in their bridge-building duties. After retirement from the Army it was Regd 23.3.92 as G-BUCJ on charter to M Somerton-Rayner & D G V Morley tr Historic Aircraft Flight Reserve Collection, AAC Middle Wallop. First arrived at Duxford 11.5.93 ex-Middle Wallop.Re-Regd 11.2.98 on charter to Propshop Ltd & Graham Warner tr British Aerial Museum, Duxford. Formally discharged from MoD/Army ownership by Disposals Agency 9.04. Re-Regd 2.3.06 as G-DHCZ to Propshop Ltd., Duxford. Initially dismantled and stored dismantled at various locations around Duxford. By mid-2009 the airframe had been totally stripped and restored and resprayed in new civilian scheme of white and red with green cheat line along the fuselage. The engine was sent to Pratt & Whitney specialists in the USA for overhaul and awaits final installation.
