Bristol Blenheim Mk I |
Original aircraft issued to 23 Sqn at Collyweston, Northants on 2.9.39, served as Night Fighter during the BoB and SOC 31.12.40, with the nose ending up at Filton where Ralph Nelson, a Bristol Employee bought it in 1946 and attached it to an Austin 7 chassis and it was apparently driven in that state. Donated several years ago to Duxford and noted in Bubble Car state. In the past few years, ARC have removed the automobile features and the intention was to fit it to the remains of the Blenheim G-MKIV (Badly damaged in crash onto the golf course near Denham airfield 21.6.87) to create a static exhibit. The photos above were taken in 9.90 when the Bubble Car was stacked with the remains of G-MKIV. Deconstruction from car configuration continued and initial trial-fit on G-BPIV at Duxford 15.5.08 |
