Duxford Residents Checklist
IMPORTANT NOTE !

Please ENJOY your visits to Duxford and similarly enjoy these pages and remember that they are a guide not gospel !
I have created the pages in several Sections as follows:
SECTION 1 - General Airfield/Collection information - including weblinks to other
organisations
SECTION 2 - Hangar-by-Hangar details, based upon my last personal visit (as dated). These
omit c/ns and previous identities etc.
SECTION 3 - More detailed information on aircraft at Duxford, ordered by the REAL IDENTITY of the aircraft. Some aircraft that have already departed Duxford remain listed here until I find time to perform a fuller update !
To go directly to these Sections Click Title as indicated above.
[Use the Back command in your Browser to return to the above choices]

SECTION 1 - GENERAL AIRFIELD/COLLECTION INFORMATION
First of all, I have to make it clear that what follows is merely a personal listing (on the dates shown)
of those aircraft normally to be found on public view at Duxford. It is NOT a page produced in any
way by the Imperial War Museum (the operators of the Duxford airfield site) nor of their tenants
(eg The Old Flying Machine Company, The Fighter Collection, The Aircraft Restoration Company,
etc). However, each of these has their own websites (albeit some not always recently updated !) and
suggested links are as follows:
IWM http://www.iwm.org.uk/duxford/duxinfo.htm
This link will take you to IWM Duxford main information page on Entrance charges, How to get
there, etc., etc.
Duxford Air Shows http://duxford.iwm.org.uk/server/show/nav.61
OFMC http://www.ofmc.co.uk
Fighter Collection http://www.fighter-collection.com
ARCO http:// www.arc-duxford.co.uk/
Can also recommend a regular look at http://www.duxford-update.info which is a link to Martin Claydon’s webpages offering many photo images of the comings and goings at Duxford

Naturally, I can offer no guarantee that any visitor will see everything that is listed, nor in the location shown. Although aircraft often visit other locations during the Air Show Season and aircraft move in and out of the Maintenance (Hangars 2N/2S) and spray hangar (Hangar 5) from time to time, nonetheless I hope to keep it relatively up-to-date. Normally there is no public access to the ARC/HFC maintence/storage hangars at the Eastern end of the airfield.
Anyone who visits and wishes to confirm/deny/update the content is welcome to e-mail me with their comments at bernm@dsl.pipex.com However, please remember that these pages are to help fellow enthusiasts and also that I do NOT work or have any special privileges at Duxford (as some correspondents seem to think) !
SECTION 2 - HANGAR BY HANGAR CONTENTS
By all means take a copy of this section on your next visit and use it as a checklist !

SECTION 3 - MORE DETAILED INFORMATION REGARDING AIRCRAFT ON SHOW
I am gradually upgrading this Section 3 with details in the following format:
In this section my intent is to have a fuller description of each aircraft at Duxford, mostly in a common format as follows:
A photograph of the aircraft as it is, or, in some cases, what it was originally or at other times in its history - all photos are by the compiler unless otherwise stated |
||
Here will be the most obvious identity to be seen on the exhibit - whether real or false |
Here will be the real identity of the exhibit |
Here will be the Type, c/n and any other identities of the exhibit |
Here will be a brief (or in some cases a more comprehensive) history of the exhibit. This is obviously an on-going task and, initially, only brief details may be given. The source of these histories will usually be from data amassed during my long membership (1956+) of Air-Britain and a lot of material will have first appeared in A-B publications over the years. In particular, maximum use will have been made of the Aircraft Type Monographs and taking advantage of the extensive research performed by other members over many years. For UK Registered aircraft much background has been researched personally by the author of these webpages, with specific reference to original documentation maintained by the CAA and their forbears. Occasionally extracts have come from the owner/operator’s own webpages and specific credit is then given. |
